A key component of our sustainability strategy is to continuously improve in the areas of energy efficiency, conservation of resources and waste avoidance. The careful use of natural resources is a key aspect of our work. We develop products with maximum longevity and use environmentally friendly technologies and processes in production to minimize our carbon footprint.

Our contribution
TO THE UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT GOALS
SDG 7: AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
Our products are an essential part of energy infrastructure and make a major contribution to security of supply. The low maintenance requirements and long service life of PFISTERER's connection and insulation technology significantly reduce overall costs across the entire period of use.
SDG 13: CLIMATE ACTION
Our products play an important role in the expansion and renewal of energy infrastructure and facilitate efficient and low-loss energy transmission. We are also efficient in the development and production of our own manufacturer-independent product solutions - we are constantly working on optimizing our production processes in order to reduce our own energy consumption and therefore also carbon emissions.
SDG 12: RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
For us, sustainable business means using resources with care. We are continuously reducing our consumption of raw materials, energy and water through targeted measures.
Reducing
OUR OWN CARBON EMISSIONS
At PFISTERER we have drawn up concrete sustainability goals: by 2029, we want to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 90% compared to 2020 and we plan to source 100% of our energy from renewable sources at all production sites by 2030. In 2023, we have already reduced our emissions by 14% compared to the previous year, continuing the positive trend. So far, we have focused on measures at our production sites. Specifically annual energy audits, optimized heat distribution and the use of renewable energies. In addition, we will define our targets for Scope 3 emissions for the first time in 2024. This gives us confidence that we will achieve the sustainability targets we have set ourselves on schedule.
ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Our goal is to cover all of our group’s electricity requirements from renewable energy sources or generate them using our own photovoltaic systems by 2030. Although we have already sustainably reduced our gas consumption, we see potential to further reduce our energy consumption through the increased use of renewable energies. We also measure our energy efficiency based on energy intensity. Through a range of targeted measures, we achieve measurable progress every year, monitored as part of regular energy audits.
SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT DESIGN
At PFISTERER, we focus on the environmentally friendly design of our products. Our developments are aimed at maximizing service life and usability in order to improve the safety and strength of energy networks. Environmental aspects play a key role, from the selection of sustainable materials to the reduction of the carbon footprint in production. We also use natural, climate-neutral materials in our packaging in order to minimize our environmental impact. In this way, we actively contribute to resource conservation and sustainability.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardized document that gives transparent and detailed information about the environmental impact of a product across its entire life cycle. Based on international standards such as ISO 14025 and EN 15804, an EPD evaluates factors such as energy and resource consumption, emissions and waste generation from raw material extraction to disposal at the end of the product’s life cycle. The main advantage of an EPD is that it enables customers and stakeholders to make informed decisions about the environmental footprint of a product. It promotes sustainability by providing objective data to evaluate the environmental performance of the product. However, EPDs are not designed for the direct comparison of products, as they can cover different life cycle phases and the data depends on specific processes and conditions. Each EPD is subject to independent third-party verification to ensure accuracy, reliability and compliance with the relevant standards. By providing verified, transparent data, EPDs help companies demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and the continuous improvement of their environmental credentials.
