Certification of a plug-in connection system for environmentally friendly 420 kV clean air switchgear in order to minimize the environmental impact of energy transmission and offer a sustainable alternative to conventional insulating gases.

The solution

The CONNEX plug-in connection system from PFISTERER has been certified by Siemens Energy for use in 420 kV clean air switchgear. It is the first plug-in system to receive this qualification, thus making a significant contribution to environmentally friendly energy transmission.

Special features

Clean Air as an insulating medium consists of natural components of the ambient air such as oxygen and nitrogen and replaces environmentally harmful SF6 gas. The CONNEX system has successfully passed the dielectrical type test with Clean Air in accordance with IEC 62271-203, and the design has been tested under conditions of increased pressure.
