Successful connection of the DolWin alpha and gamma offshore platforms

The challenge

TenneT needed a reliable connection between the DolWin alpha and DolWin gamma offshore platforms to ensure the 900 MW feed-in guarantee for more than one million households. This required a rugged cable network and highly reliable contact technology that could withstand the extreme offshore conditions.

The solution

PFISTERER delivered its solid-insulated, plug-in CONNEX connection system in combination with the flexible 155 kV Feltoflex cable. The systems were subjected to extensive electrical testing and contact ageing testing, which they passed.

Special features

PFISTERER laid 6,500 meters of Feltoflex cable under extreme conditions offshore, including challenging routes. The laying took place both in the Warnemünde dry dock and directly in the North Sea. The world's longest 155 kV bridge connection between two offshore platforms was thus successfully completed.
