Universal Repair Kit for 110 kV VPE cables

The challenge

Schleswig-Holstein Netz GmbH operates a complex grid with 2,600 km of 110 kV lines, including 80 km as 110 kV XLPE cables of twelve different types. The logistical challenge was to always have suitable replacement cables and connecting elements to hand for emergencies.

The solution

PFISTERER has developed a universal cable repair system that covers all XLPE/XLPE-insulated cable types. The centerpiece is a universal epoxy resin sleeve that enables the quick connection of different cable diameters and types.

Special features

The Universal Repair Kit significantly saves on storage space and time, which has cut costs by around 75 %. In addition, the system can be stored almost indefinitely and is operational immediately, which significantly improves operational readiness in the event of a fault.
