When design meets efficiency: aesthetic overhead line insulators for Danish high-voltage pylons

The challenge

The award-winning high-voltage pylons designed by Danish architects Bystrup set high demands of the insulator chains, as conventional glass cap or porcelain insulators disrupt the design or are not functionally suitable.

The solution

PFISTERER developed silicone long rod insulators specifically for these demanding requirements, manufactured using the ACIM (Automatic Continuous Injection Molding) process. These insulators, which can be produced in lengths of up to seven meters, were used in Danish overhead lines to meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

Products used

SILCOSIL silicone long rod insulators (up to 7 meters long)

Special features

PFISTERER's silicone insulators, which are over four meters long, offer a higher performance than several porcelain long rod insulators combined. They fit seamlessly into the innovative design of the high-voltage pylons, boost the efficiency of the overhead line and help increase public acceptance of energy transmission projects.
