SETTING NEW STANDARDS IN THE HVDC MARKET
PFISTERER is investing around 30 million euros in the new high-voltage facility, which will enable both type and routine testing of cable accessories for the highest voltage levels – directly integrated into the company's development and production processes. The goal is to jointly qualify complete HVDC system solutions with international cable manufacturers.
"As an independent provider of cable accessories, we enable cable manufacturers to access the HVDC market – a market that is key to realizing global energy networks," explains Fabrice Jedrej, Head of HVDC at PFISTERER.
PFISTERER BRINGS SILICONE EXPERTISE INTO HIGH-VOLTAGE TECHNOLOGY
PFISTERER has been preparing to enter the HVDC market for quite some time and has successfully completed various type tests for different voltage levels in recent months.
The company is specifically leveraging its industry-leading expertise in silicone processing. In addition to silicone insulation, the company is also developing solutions based on EPDM. Cable joints, terminations and connectors for 150 kV and 320 kV are expected to reach series maturity by the end of 2026.
A FUTURE TECHNOLOGY WITH GLOBAL SIGNIFICANCE
High-voltage direct current technology is seen as the backbone of future energy infrastructure – offering efficient, low-loss transmission over long distances. With its new laboratory, PFISTERER is positioning itself as a key driver of this technological, economic and strategic transformation.
